Tezuka Productions and ACGWORLDS have officially launched the world’s first Web3-based fan art contest featuring Osamu Tezuka’s legendary characters. “Tezuka Universe” invites artists to reimagine over 100 iconic figures—from Astro Boy to Black Jack—with a chance to win cash prizes, collectible NFTs, and even commercial licensing opportunities. This groundbreaking event merges timeless manga history with the creative potential of blockchain.
Tezuka Universe: A New Era of Fan Art in Web3
Tezuka Universe is the world’s first official Web3 secondary creation event featuring the works of manga pioneer Osamu Tezuka. Organized by Tezuka Productions and ACGWORLDS through the TCOM (Tezuka Characters On March) project, the initiative allows artists around the world to submit original illustrations based on 65 works and 100 characters, officially approved for creative reinterpretation.
How Does the Event Work? From Drawing to Blockchain
To participate, artists must register on the official event page and upload up to five illustrations. Submissions will be evaluated in three stages: operational review, public voting, and an official jury selection. Top entries will be minted as NFTs, with proof-of-ownership provided on the blockchain. Voting and task participation also grant points convertible to $TCOM tokens.
Why Web3? The Vision Behind TCOM’s Collaboration
This event marks a bold step toward bridging traditional Japanese pop culture and modern decentralized technologies. Tezuka Productions aims to offer an environment where fan creations are not only celebrated, but officially supported. Through blockchain, the event ensures transparent ownership, fair reward distribution, and global participation without geographic barriers.
What’s at Stake: Rewards, NFTs, and Official Licensing
Winners will share a total prize pool of 1.5 million yen (approx. $10,000). The top three entries will receive 1 million, 300,000, and 200,000 yen respectively. Winning works may also be commercialized with Tezuka Productions’ approval—such as being used in merchandise or promotional media. All NFT ownership rights will be secured and granted to the creators.
A Global Call to Artists: Enter Before July 2!
The submission deadline is May 29, with voting and final judging taking place in June. Results will be announced on July 2, 2025. Artists and fans worldwide are encouraged to participate in this officially licensed, blockchain-integrated celebration of Tezuka’s legacy.
