Kako no-chan Brings a Pop Culture Touch to Kakogawa’s Anniversary
To mark its 75th anniversary in 2025, Kakogawa City has introduced an official logo that prominently features its mascot character, Kako no-chan. The logo was created in collaboration with celebrated illustrator Noiji Itou, known for her iconic work on anime and light novel franchises.
Kako no-chan is a cute, energetic character designed to reflect the warmth, friendliness, and charm of Kakogawa City. The mascot has been actively promoting the city’s culture and attractions since August 2023, when Itou first assumed the role of Kakogawa’s official tourism ambassador. This collaboration bridges local pride with contemporary Japanese pop culture, making it appealing to both residents and anime enthusiasts.
Logo Availability and Usage
The new logo will be available for use, free of charge, from April 2025 to March 2026. Individuals and organizations can apply for permission from the city to use the logo in events, promotional materials, and community campaigns that align with Kakogawa’s celebration efforts.
The official anniversary date falls on June 15, 2025, but preparations are already underway. With Kako no-chan at the heart of the festivities, Kakogawa aims to boost civic engagement and share its unique identity with a broader audience—both within and beyond Japan.
