The 2019 short Muchū ni Shiawase, Fuchū-chō is getting a sequel. Manga legend Hiroshi Tanaka (BADBOYS) and director Ryu Nakayama (Chainsaw Man) reunite to capture family life in real Hiroshima locations, with streaming planned on Fuchū Town’s official channels from FY Reiwa 8 (April 2026 onward).
Release window and where to watch the new short
The sequel is slated for FY Reiwa 8 (April 2026 and after), with distribution planned on Fuchū Town’s official YouTube channel and socials. The exact premiere date and runtime will be announced by the town accounts.
How this one-minute format picks up the family’s thread
The story resumes with the Tsubakimachi family after the birth of their first daughter “Kokoro-chan.” Expect the same intimate cadence as the 2019 60-second short—small moments, precise timing, and everyday warmth condensed into a minute.

Real Hiroshima locations and a soundscape that breathes
As before, real places across Fuchū Town serve as the backdrop. The sound design leans into footsteps, wind, and domestic textures that let the town itself “breathe.”
Tanaka × Nakayama, and the production that grounds it
Original story by Hiroshi Tanaka; overall direction by Ryu Nakayama; sound direction by Keisuke Tamura. Organized by Diginal and produced by Fuchū Town, the project aligns with the town’s Fifth Comprehensive Plan.
