A rare chance to learn directly from Yusuke Nakamura
Illustrator Yusuke Nakamura—known for iconic CD jackets, book covers, and commercial art—will lead a creator-first session designed to answer real questions from aspiring artists. The talk is built around pre-submitted questions, so you’ll hear actionable answers rather than generic tips. Seats are limited on campus, with a generous online capacity for remote attendees. Travel tips: from Kyomaf venues to Uryuyama Campus
Kyomaf’s main venue is Miyako Messe (Okazaki). From central Kyoto, City Buses No. 5 / 3 / 204 commonly reach the campus stop “Kamihatecho / Uryuyamagakuen Kyoto Geijutsu Daigaku-mae.” As a rule of thumb, expect ~20–50 min depending on origin and traffic; e.g., from Keihan Sanjo via Bus 5 is ~20 min; from Kawaramachi via Bus 3 or 5 is ~30 min. A taxi from Okazaki to Uryuyama is typically ~15–25 min off-peak. For Kyomaf’s theater and stage schedules, check the official site beforehand.
Streaming details for remote attendees
The talk & Q&A streams via Zoom Webinar. If you’re joining from outside Kyoto (or outside Japan), it’s the most reliable path. The critique remains on-site only to keep feedback focused and personal.
Prep smarter: questions to ask & portfolio pointers
Bring one specific question tied to your current work (“How do I balance line density with color accent in this poster draft?”). Prepare 2–4 pieces that show range: composition-heavy illustration, character-led design, and a commercial-style piece (package/cover/key visual). Add a one-line goal to each (“Submitting to contest X next month”) so feedback gets laser-sharp. ✍️
Reserve your seat and send your questions today
Start with the official event outline, choose your form, and submit questions or critique requests by Sept 14 (Sun, JST). If you plan to drop by Kyomaf the same day, budget your bus or taxi window from Okazaki to Uryuyama.
