Good Smile Company’s PLAMATEA brings “Alberto the Shock” from Giant Robo: The Animation — The Day the Earth Stood Still to your shelf: ¥8,500 (tax-in), releasing May 2026, approx. 165 mm tall (non-scale). Now open for preorder at major retailers including AmiAmi. This quick guide shows how to get the most from the face options and articulation for dramatic displays.

Face options and a safe paint-ready workflow

You get 9 total face parts: 4 pre-painted for instant display, plus 5 paint-ready with sculpted brows and mustache for custom finishes.

  • Prep: Light soap wash & dry; optional thin clear coat as a barrier.
  • Detail: Use thinned water-based acrylics; follow the brow/stubble sculpt as a guide.
  • Clean-up: Wick excess with a dry swab; build color in thin layers.
  • Seal: Finish with a light matte coat to unify sheen and protect edges.

Tip: Keep one paint-ready face “clean” and another with subtle shadowing—swap to match your pose.

Choose a signature expression before you pose

Pick the default shelf look first (cool glare vs. sharper brows). Let hands, stance, and coattails echo that mood so the silhouette reads “Alberto” at a glance.

Articulation by Masaki Apsy: clean lines, big motion

The joint layout favors torso twist and shoulder reach without breaking the suit’s lines. For “impact” poses, build a triangle: wide feet, hips angled, shoulders counter-turned, spine long—then micro-adjust ankles so soles look planted.

Coattail swaps and hand sets for motion and menace

  • Flowing coattails: Angle them away from the lead leg to sell movement.
  • Hands (5 types): Open hands for intimidation; knife-edge or fists for strike moments.

Late-story look and optional BF Organization build

Recreate later episodes with the hair-down head and alternate chest pocket. Or use the dedicated BF head and gloved hands (4 types) to assemble the selectable BF Organization version—great for a second display.

Stand use and important safety notes

  • Base required: The kit does not self-stand—use the included stand for all poses.
  • Balance: Let the stand carry the lean; avoid ankle overload on dynamic stances.
  • Sample images: Promotional photos show a painted build; your kit is unpainted unless noted.

Preorder and display plan

Preorder while stock lasts, choose a default pre-painted face, prep one paint-ready face for custom shading, then lock an “impact” stance with flowing coattails and the right hands. Rotate to hair-down or BF builds when you want a fresh look.
