Omae wa Mada Gunma o Shiranai – Reiwa Edition(お前はまだグンマを知らない~令和版~) is back with its “Gunma is a forbidden zone” style comedy, and it starts on January 10. You can catch it on Railway Channel first, then jump straight to the fastest streaming option right after, so you won’t miss the weekly rollout.
A Quick Primer on “Gunma” Comedy Energy
This series turns Gunma into a place of legends, fear, and pure chaos. The story begins when Kamitsuki moves from Chiba to Gunma. Before he even arrives, his Gunma-based friend Todoroki hits him with a warning that sounds like a horror movie. That contrast is the show’s core joke, and it comes at you fast.
Episode 1–4 Teasers: Music, Food, Karuta, Sports Day
Episode 1 opens during the trip to Gunma, where Kamitsuki starts feeling that something is “off” on the train. A strangely catchy melody slips into the scene, and the mood flips from normal to cursed in seconds.
Episode 2 ramps up the paranoia. Kamitsuki doesn’t know Gunma’s local “commands,” so his classmates suspect he’s a spy and restrain him. Todoroki steps in, but his rescue comes with a challenge: a mysterious B-grade local food that’s rumored to be dangerous for non-Gunma people.
Episode 3 teases a sudden rom-com turn when the class beauty, Shinooka Kyo, talks to Kamitsuki. He gets excited. The show hints that Gunma will not allow a simple romance arc.
Episode 4 goes full culture shock with a Gunma-style sports day. Kamitsuki expects a normal red-versus-white setup. Instead, he discovers the rules are on a totally different planet.

January 2026 Broadcast and Streaming Times
If you want the cleanest “no spoilers” route, timing matters. The TV broadcast starts on Railway Channel on Saturday, January 10 at 21:30 (Japan time). The fastest streaming follows on the same day at 22:00 (Japan time) via Watch on d Anime Store.
Other streaming platforms begin rolling out from Thursday, January 15 in Japan. If you’re watching weekly and want to stay ahead of the conversation, the Saturday night route is the easiest to remember.
Cast, Staff, and the “Light Anime®” Approach
The main cast includes Gakuto Kajiwara as Kamitsuki and Jun Kasama as Todoroki. Aya Uchida voices Shinooka Kyo, with Yui Ogura as Ieki Ena, and Uoken as the narrator. The anime is based on Hiroto Ida’s manga Omae wa Mada Gunma o Shiranai(お前はまだグンマを知らない).
Direction and series composition are handled by Tetsuya Tatamiya, with scripts by Emi Saito and Kohei Nakayama. Production is tied to a joint project involving Imagica Infos, DNP, and Express, and it also highlights DNP’s “Light Anime®” concept, a workflow designed to reduce time and cost compared with traditional animation pipelines. For music, the ending theme is “Jomo Karuta – Reiwa Edition,” written and composed by Masayuki Deguchi.
